one other tip you may need to add grit to their diet in order to have hard shells, sometimes chooks lay thin shelled eggs when they dont have access to grit in their diet.

A trick with snakes if you ever get any is get a dog food can and punch out a sharp bit in the middle of the can and poke it in to the can a bit. Put some attractant in it (milk or similar) and when the snake puts his head in to the hole he should not be able to get it out. Here comes the bit with the Axe

you dont need to go to that much trouble, millions of snakes, lizards and small marsupials die each year around the country with their heads stuck in a normal drink can thrown out the window of a vehicle, cant imagine its a pleasant way to go.

on another note, if you want a chook house with real character, try and track down an old "Thunderbox"thats what mine is going to be.Of course it needs a bit of work yet.

    Hi Taff
Easy to fill,I leave a 2lt icecream container in them rubbish bins where I store the tucker.
You just tip it in via the corner thru the holes in the feeder, they are 60mm dia.
If you get Poultry mix it has all the goodies in it,including shell grit.Thats why I had to make this feeder, bloody chooks emptyied the hopper lookin for their favorite bits, once scattered on the floor they wont eat it till they are REALLY HUNGRY
