Was in Repco yesty getting oil and a filter to do a service on Elmo and the Manager come up to me to offer some help . I grabbed a couple of 5l bottles of Mobil diesel oil and he told me to put them back and grab the Repco brand as it is Mobil oil with a Repco sticker and $10 a bottle cheaper. I don't mind saving $20 where i can.
penrite only here.. see technical sectionbuy it by the 20l too
Thanks
Steve
We only use Penrite oils. Remember seeing a doco (years ago now) about the cheaper oils not being a good replacement. They're cheaper for a reason, but can't remember why.
I have used Mobil oil in all my cars and motorbikes since i was 16 and have never had a problem with it . Not sure how long the oil would last if not serviced as i have always changed the oil regularly. Also used it in my speedway car.
I use the Mobile Super Syn 5w - 50.
I used Penrite in my old V8 but after two oil pump's seized up I stopped using it. Could have been two dodgey oil pumps, but the second time I rebuilt the engine it put me off buying Penrite.
Oil is somewhere I don't want to save money.
According to this Document, Mobil states:
Lubricants are packaged under the Mobil Trademark. We also produce and pack a
relatively small volume of lubricants for other trademark owners such as Caterpillar,
Repco and Detroit Diesel

I doubt Mobil would pack Delvac 1 in Repco livery, otherwise I've been had![]()
Mobil oil isnt that the crap HRT have in their crappy engines. They seem to blow up all the time.
Ducks for cover
Penrite only for me too.
