    Locked out - help!

    Hey guys,

Have had a bugger of a morning! Didn't have any luck starting the Rangey this morning - flat battery pretty sure there's a power leak somewhere as it's happened once before...

Anyway, needed to jump start obviously and as i checked the cables, girlfriend closed the door. Immediate lock out with keys in the ignition. NRMA has tried to get into the car with no luck. The boot won't open, seems that even though it's powered and the key's in the ignition, the car has locked up tight.

Any ideas on how to get in?!?!

Next options are to break the window..

    Please help!

I used a screw driver and some wire.

Get a rag and cover the screw driver so you don't scratch your paint.

Put the screw driver into the gap (on handle side) and pry open the door so you can insert the wire into the car.

Wither hook the wire over the door lock or over the handle and pull.

I have used this method many a times

thanks mate, i'm decided originally not to go down that route as the passenger side lock is already in the up position but not opening, i was guessing that the lock is up but mechanically it's still locked. Have you tried this trick on a P38?

I think you have the wrong NRMA guy

On our last JDCQ run, one of the guys turned up in his 2007 Commondore as his Jaguar cracked the radiator that morning.

Anyway, this guy managed to put the car keys in the boot and shut the lid, when the doors were locked.

An NRMA guy turned up, put a rubber pad between the windo and the door skin and pumped it out, so he could get to the door lock.

He then uses a 12 volt LED, attached to a 12v battery, to see down in the door. He had a tool to remove the rod from the electric solinoid, then he used another tool to open the door.

It was all very impressive and took about half an hour to do.

    Cheers
