    what makes this sound

    hi guys,
have a look at this video
    YouTube - landrover defender G4 by www.daur4x4.de
it seems to be a td5 engine, it sounds really powerful.
can one of you tell what makes the sound? and what has it actually to do
    with the engine performance?
    all the best, cheers, axel

That'll have a straight through exhaust, and no doubt bigger than standard, but definately sounds straight through.

I'd bet that motor warps manifolds like its going out of style too.

Not impressed by the almost constant plume of black smoke during the first minute.

At times it blows almost as much as my 300Tdi on startup.

    Lets see
Blowing heaps of black smoke and won't rev, maybe a V8 with the choke on.
Really rough sound and veeeery sloooow, maybe a v8 with three plug leads pulled off.
