Who's had the biggest water leak!?

We got our rates notice yesterday and according to that instaed of the recommended 140l/day maximum we have apparently been using.......

    wait for it.....

    2580l/day!!!

    sh*t

Spent this morning having a leak detection guy locate it (which he got 100% correct) and then cutting out our concrete drive above the leak and repairing it.

    What a nightmare...

Worst thing is the rates notice was up until the end of march, and since then our wtaer meter has gone up from 70k/l to 470k/l

    bugg*r

    Ouch.
Hate to think how much that would cost.

At least the pipe we broke here was today and we fixed it today.

a few years ago my brother in law had a 50mm mains water pipe break under an 8 inch thick concrete slab on a commercial property he owns.the leak was extremely difficult to locate as the break was under a large area of concrete.....were talking a 800msquare shed.

the repair was well over 8k....and i dont know how much extra for water he had to pay

umm.....think this was around 8 yrs ago hate to think how much it would have cost today

    now.....that really hurts

    burst pipe

When I was a Plumber working in the Toowoomba area I would send people with burst Pipes a letter about a undetectable leak. Armed with some photos and the bill they would go to the council. Some were successfull at getting a reduction on the water rates notice. Worth a phone call to your local council.
    Hope this helps

Yeah ^^^ what Colin just said.

If the leak was not obvious and you have the documentation from the plumber about fixing it you can get a reduction.
