    RAV4 of coffee makers- question

Please don't get upset at the sacrilege but I am considering a Nespresso machine.

I live and work near cafes and much of my coffee is sourced retail and relatively little coffee gets drunk at home.

For those times when I do want a coffee at home I am considering one of those evil pod machines. The break all the rules; pre-ground coffee propably 5 years old and full of prerservatives, in pods. But if the make okay coffee easily and quickly it might do.

Has anyone who is willing to admit it had any experience of these machines and coffee they make?

    I have three of them

A Gaggia in the kitchen that I use daily.
    Gaggia: Classic

An ALDI $70 one in the caravan that is just as good as the Gaggia, and a "Belman" identical to this one. Stovetop Coffee Machine w/Pressure Gauge! BNIB Bellman - eBay Other Small Appliances, Small Appliances, Appliances, Home. (end time 24-Jul-08 22:10:47 AEST)

The Belman is great for camping or every day use.

    Cheers,
    Ron

I think I'd spend the money on a decent grinder and a plunger/French press, or go the stovetop and a grinder.

Stale-ish beans from a pod, or stale-ish beans from the freezer probably doesn't equal a great deal of difference in quality, and the time saved with the pods will probably be picked up on cleaning. I run my stovetops through the dishwasher every day (stainless steel, not aluminium).

They spend a lot of time on pods, etc.

    Cheers
    Simon
