    D3 fire

Saw a sad sight coming up Kalamunda Rd Hill this arvo. A nice D3 with some commercial advertising and orange striping on the panels and towing a Dingo on a trailer on with the engine on fire. The FRS were in attendance. Must have been hot as part of the bonnet had burnt away. I sure feel for the owner. I hope the insurance is ok.
I sometimes see it around Kalamunda.

thats the second one in WA then - Exmouth Smash Repairs had one till last week completely burnt out, driver manage to unload the caravan as the D3 burnt to the ground.

LRA are shipping this one back to Sydney for investigations as there seems to be a history of this happening now.

'a history' eh?? Two or so out of how many thousand sold?

Maybe we should have interviewed the drivers to see what the entire nation will be watching on TV for the next year too!

I would have thought that LRA would conduct a full investigation anyway as part of any warranty claim.

    touchy eh?

LRA have admitted there may be issues with certain models.

Next time I will not say anything, but seeing its based on fact
(inc pix if you want any), I personally would want to know more about this issue if I was a D3 owner.

Fact? I accept that there has been a couple of fires, but where are the 'facts' that there's an issue?????

Where is the letter from LR??

There is a service action regarding vapour lines for petrol D3's that has been around since sept 2006 but nothing else.

One in another country went up due to poorly installed accessories.

Show me actual facts as to this being an issue and I'll agree.

I'm yet to see any smoke from mine.

I'd say there;s far more of a 'history' that they don't spontaneously combust.

I made a mistake with my P38A when it caught fire.

Jeez, if there was a potential issue with my vehicle I'd like to know whether it happened to 5 people or 200. Even if it was just to be aware of it happening. It might be 2 people in Oz. or far more but it could well be a hell of a lot overseas. I remember seeing pics of several going up.

In my deefer I had diff issues. Only found info of it happening to 8 vehicles over 4 forums internationally but it was a hell of an issue and it was definately going to be a common problem.
