If driving, I'd like to spend 3 days each way.

A big diesel would be nice but that's something I don't have. Even hiring would work out close to the same $ as using my own car once the hire fee/excess km is taken into account.

    Still thinking........
That was then year.. we kept running into Morries all over the place heading west. Convertibles towing caravans.

Anyway, back on topic, if the $$$ are the same, then pass the wear & tear onto a hire vehicle..

There are supposed to be lots of good deals going for backloading from Perth-East coast. Maybe try some transport companies who travel PER-SYD often. When I came across the Nullarbor I saw HEAPS of B-doubled heading back empty, with the traillers stacked 1 on top of each other.

Don't know if it helps, but I will be driving PER-MELB in mid december. If you can fins a car trailler, I would be happy to tow it that far for you - in exchange for you paying 1/2-2/3 the fuel bill (ISUZU DIESEL).

Don't do it, Scouse! That Isuzu Diesel is as rare as....... and much more expensive than Mobil or Shell or Caltex!

    Just another idea

A few good ideas posted on how to get the MM back to the east. I will through another one in the ring. Speak o a furniture removalist I know of several people that have had cars moved around the country in the back of furniture vans at very low costs as back loads A mate had a mustang broughtback from WA about 3 yrs ago and i think it only cost him about $700 with no damage at all to it.

I sent a project car to Perth about 2 years ago. Because it didn't have any brakes the car carriers wouldn't handle it. It went by a boat transport company - I don't know freight costs as these were picked up at the other end. Cheers, Erich.

Today I tried Toll (Autologistics) through work to no avail. Despite their website advertising that they transport non-runners, they say they won't carry them .

No-one wants to do a one way truck rental (not that I've found yet, waiting on one reply).

One transport company will take the car to Melbourne for $800 so that's a start. I just need to get it the 120km to their depot .

***Just received another email: $842 to Sydney from the Perth Depot . A plus is that their Sydney depot is 2min from work. That's in a container & sent by rail.
Now to call some local towies for a price for the 120km tow.

Let's hope the loose parts inside the car aren't a problem. Hopefully the seller will co-operate & wrap it all up for me.

How much more can you fit into a container? I assume it's a 20 ft container.

Why? Do you want to see if a D3 will fit inside?

I assume 20' is the smallest container but I don't have anything else to come across (that I can think of).
I'm happy with $842, it would cost me more than that in fuel just to get to Perth.

Anyway, the auction is over & I'm the lucky winner .
If anyone wants to send something across from Perth, let me know soon. All going well, it will be Northline at Hazelmere doing the job. It will be a few days (maybe a week or more) before it leaves.
