My wife has a lower back tattoo . She doesn't walk around showing it off and she is far from being a tramp .

Nevertheless, that is the perjorative term applied to them. Google it.

Hi Ron . I know that is the so called name for that tattoo area . I just don't like the name itself .

No it doesn't, but peoples 1st impressions portray you as

    I don't,

It shows very poor taste (I could easily get insulting and personal here, but that would not be right) to have to take an argument to a personal level, for no valid reason and not keep it on the merits of fact.
So would you prefer I wrote nice tats, and thought insulting thoughts or would you prefer to hear my views and address them?

Why is this different to your Tattoos?

In the not so distant past we had pejorative names for indigenous people, homosexuals and the mentally ill. Most of us now find these names offensive and inappropriate.

Here is your chance to get ahead of the curve and put "tramp stamps" in that category as well.

Because we do not define ourselves by our tattoo(s) and feel no need to wear them publicly.

IMO, some sub-cultures would get tattoos (eg bikies) to prove how tough they were cause they allegedly hurt. Now that middle-class softies like me have a tattoo they no longer have this meaning and therefore new ways to prove your toughness are required by those people who need to do so. So the scarring and branding are different from tattoos as they are a result of a very different motivation.
