On the other hand at about the same time a friend of mine had been driving the LWB Series I even before he could reach the pedals. He had strapped wooden blocks to the pedals to reach them. A young cop failed him because he had to do a five point turn instead of a three point turn to reverse direction on a narrow dirt road.:mad:

Hand up anyone who thinks they could do a three point turn in a LWB Series I even on a normal road.:p

Just checking on this...As I understand it, when the left lane merges into the right (or visa versa) and there are those sort of thick dashed white lines, then the car in the lane that ends has to give way (even if in front) - that giving way might mean changing lanes in front if safe to do so, but technically they have to give way.

When two lanes merge with NO DASHED LINES, i.e. both lanes just become one, then the car IN FRONT has right of way. This is what you're saying isn't it? There are heaps of these in the city.

I gave up on road rage after traveling with my dad a few years ago. He used to get so heated up over petty things ppl did I decided it wasn't worth it. I'm sure I've accidently done dumb stuff other's could've been furious about. I figure as long as no-one crashed I'll stay calm.

Well get over into the left hand lane so I can pass. Don't sit beside the car next to you whilst both of you travel at below the limit.

That's how I understand it. There is one "form one lane" spot near me where the right hand side regularly gets blocked up with traffic banking up from a right turn lane just past where the lane markings run out. I ALWAYS follow the left lane through the intersection before because in peak hour it is guaranteed that those in the right lane will get stopped. It's amazing how many fools get caught in this tailback and just pull left with no warning totally oblivious to the fact that there is traffic streaming past them on the left hand side - even when the queue goes back to where the two lanes are still separated by linemarkings.

People who do that erk me as well , but if they are doing the limit what the hell i will just sit in the left lane and do the speed limit.:angel:

After all its not like i am late for stamping on bushfires or anything.

Ignore tailgaters. They cannot do anything to you where they aren't in the wrong. Just relax and drive as you know you should. If you allow them to intimidate you, you are likely to make a mistake.

Your interpretation of the "merging" rules is correct, but you are probably well-aware of how few people know the rules.

Just like with roundabouts, where most people operate on the "give way to the right" principle whereas the correct rule is to "give way to vehicles who have entered the roundabout before you".

OK lets say you're travelling northbound on a dual carriageway. your kerbside lane and fast lane are chockers - are you saying that you can go into the southbound fast lane to overtake your traffic?

You're travelling northbound on a single carriageway (is that what its called? one lane north one south) and the southbound traffic has an overtaking lane. can you go into their overtaking lane to overtake your traffic?

None of the above, just leave it to the people who know what they're doing
