oh, another one from a few months ago. i was driving back home along cherry gardens road, and i'd been stuck behind a light truck (6-8ton) for a few kms doing 60 in the 80 zone. on a big straight i gave it the beans and pulled out, he then decided to do the same. sadly i wasnt much faster than him and only got past because there was a tight corner(i could see what was coming safely enough) and my brakes were better than his. he was an absolute ****** about it and then decided it iwas in his best interests to tailgate me the rest of the way. then when we pulled up at some traffic lights at woodcroft, he starts yelling abuse at me about MY dangerous driving.

Does one need to sit an exam in bloody awful driving to get a Camry driver's licence?
I was about to overtake one this arvo (not unusual for me) when he pulled out in front of me to overtake the car in front (no blinker, of course). Did he overtake? Not bloody likely. He sat beside the other driver and both travelled at below the ruddy speed limit for miles (sounds better than km!)
Then we got to an 80km/h speed camera and they both slowed down to 60! What the heck! I don't know how many cars I pass at that particular speed camera. Going in the opposite direction is even better. I don't bother slowing at all as the camera only works on one direction but most drivers haven't worked that out.
What is it about speed cameras that people have to slow down so much as they pass it?
I often pass a copper on the way to work. He travels at the speed limit - I work next door to his station. He doesn't worry about me being over the limit a little bit. :angel:
Because sometimes they are wrong, and if they are its up to you to prove it! It has alreadyhappened in Australia and it will happen again. Hopefully it won't be me.Quote:

I was approaching a QLD camera in a 60 zone the other day and saw it flash someone who I thought didn't look to be going very fast. I slowed to 45, and a car about 50 m in front of me that was only going a little faster than me got flashed too. Luckily I didn't, but I did check and confirm it is 60 there. Just think, dozens of people are going to get booked for something they didn't do, and it's up to them to prove it!
I've never come across an inaccurate camera in NSW. I've often passed them at up to 10% above the limit and have never been flashed. I think the NSW cameras may have a +10% leeway - just don't exceed 10%.
I was once told by a Highway Patrol cop that he usually allows +10% +3km/h.
I don't exceed the 50km/h limit on suburban streets. I limit my speeding to highways and motorways.
My pet hate is following slower traffic who then speed up when you get to a passing lane. My solution is to put the foot down pass them and then ease back with your nose just in front of them as the lane ends so they have to brake to get in behind. Getting one up is a great cure for road rage!

Jerk does the "I'm gonna do 120 kph now" trick
Pass him .. Pull left .. take foot off gas pedal ... this will slow him up
He will be blocked in on the left side because all the traffic can now pass him ... as you have him penned down to 60k's
Once the 2 lanes become one ...all the traffic has pass him ... put your foot down
They won't follow you too closely .. as they think your nut's

I think what annoys me is that they're probably so ignorant of the road rules that they aren't aware they're breaking them. Those solid lines are there for a reason (eg, before and after traffic lights, or when the road curves and inattention can cause you to drift into the wrong lane).
Risking an accident cause you don't know what the signs mean does bug me.

They get used at points where people are turning/merging, to 'try' to ensure no-one does unnecesary lane changing - forces them to change earlier or later when there's less going on around them.
Might be different in other states.

I experienced something similar, rocked into the local Police Station in Kyogle, NSW. Fronted the desk, the SGT recognised me and said, "Const So & So, take Stan's son and test his driving". We went and climbed into the car, he said, "You know where I live..drive up there" I did. We collected his garbage bin, drove to the tip, emptied his bin, drove back to his place to drop his bin off, back to the station, and I was issued my licence.Quote:
