    Rain

Well, we had 47mm overnight, and it is still raining. That one night's rain is more than we have had in any whole month since February, and is the highest single day's registration since June last year. A few people round here will be very happy, although it may be too late to save some of the crops.

It probably means that I will be cut off for a day or two, depends on how widespread the rain has been and how much more there is. I'll go for a drive round the place later.

We only had 8.5 in the gauge this morning although it's still raining and 14 degrees. Feels like Cairns

Sure is good to see it JD

Only a couple of weeks ago some chaps were talking the "we'll all be rooned" line...I told them I thought the rain was coming.

Those eight day Bureau of Meteorology computer forecasts are getting pretty good, not perfect I know, but not bad either.

JD. You are welcome to come and build a pipe from my place to yous. I was hoping the no rain for a week might keep up just a bit longer.
It will be bucketing down here and clear blue skies in Yass.
It seams that if there is rain anywhere in VIC or NSW then we have rain.

As long as it doesn't get to the stage of being 'rooned' due to the rain! Great poem on the stereotypical Aussie cockies view of the world.

    And all the afternoon
On iron roof and window pane
    It drummed a homely tune

And through the night it pattered still
    And lightsome, gladsome elves
On dripping spout and window sill
    Kept talking to themselves

It pelted, pelted all day long,
    A-singing at its work,
Till every heart took up the song,
    Way out to Back-o'-Bourke.

And every creek a banker ran,
    And dams filled overtop;
"We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
    "If this rain doesn't stop."

    It's still raining.......

So far I've stayed inside except for a couple of trips to the rain gauge, and one to shut the 2a windows when I realised it had started to blow under the carport. But some time before dark I have to go and feed next door's dog - they are away. It is only four kilometres, and the creek between here and there should not be up yet, and the ground won't be boggy yet either.

That's great to hear about the rain John. Sounds like you should give the poor dog a double helping. It might be a bit until his next feed
