Good one Blaze, I was waiting for someone else to think out loud! I agree some of the loads could CAUSE a bogging, let alone recover from one!

Weight is a factor in getting a 4x4 stuck, so yes, if you don't honestly think it is req, just leave it behind. I was suprised by how little we take with us when touring, it is a lot easier on the old rangie also!

My gear lives in the rig. I have used it more in recovering vehicles on my way to work than recovering myself.

    Also should have added
    on board air
    Tookits
    UHF CB
    AM CB
    Couple of those blue tarps
    Fire extinguisher
    water
    fuses and relays
    grease
    oil
any parts that fit on the draws.
I also always carry coffe sugar cups stove sleeping bag and the bog roll

I plan on carrying everything.... Including the kitchen sink, stove/oven, shower, bed room etc.. I'm doing my 4x4 wheeling in style.

Some might think these things have nothing to do with recovery but I'd like to see you try driving from Canada to South America with your wife an four Kids! Without these items on board I'd never recover

Please don't hate me! at least I'm doing it in a Land rover

    Cheers

I rarely have to get mine out for me, Ive worn out a snatch strap and only been recovered with it twice.

My tree trunk protector has never been around a tree but used several times as a bridle on others cars.

I have winched myself out once yet my winch is showing signs of it's age.

This is all well and good but those couple of times ive needed to recover myself Im glad I had it.

Aha! I always knew kids would come in handy for something - even if it is only to put under the wheels for traction!

At the moment I carry the following ....

    Shovel
    Axe
    Wife

and a little bit of common sense

Only been stuck once so far, touch wood (touches head), luckily that day I was carrying my mate in his pootrol. It wasn't so bad though, I snatched him from the same hole ......

Gotta go, footy just started ....

Recovery gear, and mate, and Patrol in the back sounds a little overloaded.

    No wonder you got bogged.
