    Cooloola/Teewah Beach access fee

Heard on ABC coast radio this afternoon that the State Govt is considering a beach access permit to travel the Teewah beach from Noosa to Rainbow for around $38/month or $180+ a year. Also imposing camping number restrictions at Inskip & Teewah as well as closing vehicle access to sections of the beach.

Do we have other beach access fees in Qld?

The Teewah beach area Rangers told me a beach access permit was coming back in 2003.

    For beach access fees:
    Fraser Island
    Stradbroke Island
    Bribie Island
    Moreton Island

Hopefully it means you will be able to go up there and the beach won't be busier than the Bruce highway south on a Sunday afternoon.

I have stopped going there as it is generally an overpopulated rubbish dump.

I agree with you, its bl**dy dangerous at the best of times blokes doing donuts and driving like the place is their personal race track. Not to long ago there was a warning not use sand spears because of the crap in the dunes.
I think the place has been loved to death. Some sort of regulation is needed to control the masses. I am not one for endless petty rules but something needs to be done to save the place. It gets hammered most weekends and not everyone is takes a porta loo which means the dunes will be well fertilized.

Its a shame the place is beautiful and you do get fish there on most occasions. You take you life into your hands trying to get the water though with endless convoys of cars.
Thank the gods that Fraser Island is a island as it would certainly get the same treatment.

    That sounds nasty

Although last I checked you weren't allowed to use sand spears up there anyway. I think this went for any NP.
