Much goes on behinds the scenes where the site moderators are concerned.
Those that get points for bad behaviour are not advertised online for all to see, for obvious reasons. But rest assured that if it is thought points for bad behaviour are deserving, then they get issued....no matter who the person behaving badly is......

Insult is one of those grey area things. People get insulted in different ways...what one perceives as an insult does not bother another...get the drift?

Decisions to ban members, or award infraction points, or warnings via PM, are not decided by one person alone but by a number of the mods depending on who is online and how bad the offence.

Hope that helps explain the situation

and....I don't know that making a post like this is helpful. It could be seen as being inflammatory
Hey NM, yep know all about the mod system...half of them a committee members in my club , that is not my point. Insults are generally pretty clear, and in this instance, black and white and a level of consistency. Yep, Mick overstepped the line, no doubts, but I also feel that for people and in this case I am using Dobbo as an example, who have a continual habit of ruffling feathers across a range of people and taking away from the general great feel of this place....should also get some form of "discipline". As Hymie quotes
    As somebody explained once before.
Somebody has taken the time and effort as well as financial cost to raise and maintain this forum, and as such it is their domain.
We as invited guests have to respect any "house rules" that may apply.
I too have been ticked off for breaching rules and I understand and respect why I was admonished.
I'm saddened to see anybody banned, temporarily or permenantly.
, if you had guests in your house and someone for whatever reason, felt it their right to continually target someone with snipes and putdowns, I know they would be out of their ear as it shows a lack of respect. Like anything the minority air their opinion of subject matters like this, the majority keep quiet....and that is fine, but when I see an inconsistency....I think that has to be aired.

    Regards

    mate

    it already is..

you rack up the points you do the time..

most people heed the behind the scenes warnings, some chose not to.

if you take exception to something posted by someone you either put that person on your ignore list or report the post, you do not retaliate with a personal attack that will earn you an infraction and the naughty points they carry depending on the infraction.

i really dont know how i can make it any clearer ....
Well in that case I am reporting it publicly. If taking into account this instance, a continual baiting of another member is not on. No excuse to resort to personal attacks as Mick has done, but it takes two to tango.

For sure, one can do that....but should one have to in the first place? No one should have to use the ignore list because they are being baited....the baiter should be given a warning....then shown the door. If one of my children is getting hassled by a sibling, I dont lock them in their room to get away from it.............I deal with the antagonist. Is that not fair and reasonable? In such a great place like this we shouldnt need ignore lists, people should have the gumption to respect the place............and 99.9% do, so if the .1% can't...............then using a brilliant quote

    Fair and reasonable Stevo
But I don't see this as your fight.....
But its obviously causing you grief...maybe the "ignore" button could be your friend for a bit until you get Dobbo out from under your skin
What, you wouldnt stick up for a mate? I only know Mick from here and PM's and like with many get on well. No grief at all, I have been on the receiving end of Dobbos snipes and attempts at put downs. I have seen it with others in threads and the like. Does one just keep their mouth shut.....or do you stick up for someone when required? Obviously I am not one to shut my mouth and if I see something unfair Ill say something ,

At this point I don't think this discussion is all that helpful.

This thread was started, one member has made his point quite strongly - there seems to be some valid points - but I do not know - the moderators have responded and in doing so have reminded us all of our obligations and explained the process.

What else is there to be achieved - other than venting personal frustrations that may not helpful.

I of course respect the point of view of everyone who comes on here - some annoy me but hey - it is a great site - how many sites would have allowed this thread and its various views to remain.

But my view is there is not much more to say on this topic - I think the main players have made their point.

    Cheers

you need to be careful what you wish for mate....

not everything can be dealt with using a black and white agenda

the admins and mods balance things as best they can and they will never be able to keep 100% happy 100% of the time.

    Hey Incisor
This is probably a dumb question but how do you raise a concern with an administator? do we send a PM?

I gotta admit I personally havent reached this level of angst but I have read some threads that I thought got way to personal and I'm not sure how I would have reacted under the same situation.

Can we have a 'No fair' button if we feel it isnt in the spirit of this site?

    Me the super IT person
