I quit about 3 mths ago after smoking for over 20 yrs. I wanted a motorbike & the wife said if you give up you can get one. It was a great motivation as every time I felt like one I would get online & search for the bike I wanted. I have been off them for over 3 months now & am finding it not too hard. I picked up my new ride last weekend (mint condition VFR 800 ) & now couldnt be happier. I say to friends that want to quit: work out what it costs you per year & then ask yourself what else you would be able to enjoy with that amount of cash. You are also, of course, healthier too.

A month and a few days.

I will be able to justify that Nikon D60 soon.

(P.S. I am turning into one of those reformed smokers......sorry. )

    Giving up the smokes?

Well done and good luck to all those trying. I've not been able to calculate how much i've saved by giving up 30 plus years ago as I don't know what a pack of 20 costs these days.
But I was doing between 3 -4 packs a day and they cost 55 cents per pack.
Anyway I spent all the money on beer so I didn't save anything except my health and that's a goood enough reason to give up.
As my Doctor said then "Better to be bit of a fat bastard than a smoker" but now they're nagging us pleasently covered ones to give up eating as well!!!
    Good luck.
    Alan.
