Queensland insists on a safety certificate before you advertise it for sale. Not having one renders you liable for a $375 fine.
This is to keep unsafe cars off the road.
Note they don't need an inspection if you keep the car registered in your name for 50 years or longer!
I emailed Qld Transport to ask how I get an inspection certificate if the car is interstate when I want to sell it. No reply.
Their site doesn't cover selling it interstate.

I guess this is why one sees currently registered Qld vehicles being sold unregistered. I never did understand that until I saw the above page.
