Big chunk of the aircraft missing between cockpits and tail. Engine disintegration perhaps.

Crew Injured In Hawk Jet Crash

Two crew members have been injured after a Hawk jet crash landed in the carpark of the RAF Cranwell airbase.

The RAF has confirmed the jet came down next to the air traffic control tower at the base in Lincolnshire.

The crew members ejected from the jet but it is not thought that they were seriously injured.

Around 20 firefighters were sent to the scene.

An RAF spokesperson said: "Both crew ejected safely and are currently being assessed medically.

"The Civilian Air Ambulance is at the scene along with a RAF Search and Rescue Helipcopter."

A Board of Inquiry is being established to investigate all aspects of the crash.

The RAF do not yet know what caused the incident.

The Hawk Jet is the chosen aircraft of the RAF's Red Arrows aerobatics team.
