Crew Injured In Hawk Jet Crash

Two crew members have been injured after a Hawk jet crash landed on a Land Rover in the carpark of the RAF Cranwell airbase.

The RAF has confirmed the jet came down next to the air traffic control tower manager's Land Rover at the base in Lincolnshire.

The crew members ejected from the jet but it is not thought that they were seriously injured by the owner of the Land Rover that they damaged, he said 'those dents are nothing compared to what this vehicle regularly gets when I go off roading, I'll just source a few new panels and invite a few mates round on the weekend to fix it up. Don't worry about it, these cars are tough'.

Around 20 firefighters were sent to the scene to check the Land Rover would not ignite, after sastisfying themselves it was safe they attended to the downed Hawk. .

An RAF spokesperson said: "Both crew ejected safely and are currently being assessed medically for insanity, I mean who would damage a Defender?'.

"The Civilian Air Ambulance is at the scene along with a RAF Search and Rescue Helipcopter to find the spare tyre from the Land Rover that one of the first on the scene is suspected of pinching."

A Board of Inquiry is being established to investigate all aspects of the crash, Sollihul is sending their own experts to figure out why the Defender did not Defend itself. .

The RAF do not yet know what caused the incident.

The Hawk Jet is the chosen aircraft of the RAF's Red Arrows aerobatics team. The Land Rover Defender is the chosen vehicle of the world's best Armies.
