Guess I read it wrong (the last paragraph) and replied to the new engine perspective But worth a mention though I would have thought.

My best mates dad has a 4.8lt turbo and 3 months out of warranty(time not K's) with 60k's on the clock number three bearing seized, when it was pulled apart the crank was so warped the whole lot became a boat mooring.
Nissan washed there hands of it as it was out of warranty $13,500 for a new one.

My neighbours dad (a retired govt vehicle inspector for licensing centre) has a 3lt turbo one and swears by it.
