    Talking bearings n other stuff

    G'day JC

Thanks for that, all good here, buildup has started n we have had a couple of showers already.

Might even get a good wet, 60,000 k service is complete. All good with the landy except an odd "induction" noise in the snorkel which I'm about to investigate.

    Cheers,

Hey, good to hear from you A!

That induction noise will be tappet clearances...some inlet ones will be loose, causing a 'beat' at idle.

Oh, and I got the bearing numbers wrong, they are 6203, not 6023!

    G'day Peter

Yep it was me. Didn't phone you, can't remember how I contacted you (probably PM). Still like to do it but got a hole in my rear tyre from an errant Tech screw the other day on the way home.

I'll PM u when I get it repaired n don't be to concerned, I'm at the ol phart stage too

    Cheers, A

Mate thanks for that. I'm a fitter and I knew somewhere in the back of my brain there was some stuff about high speed bearings. Given that they are small in diameter (the pulleys) and driven by the back of a serpentine belt they must run at a fair old speed when sitting on 2800 RPM which is my normal cruising speed. I even went searching for an old NSK cataldog I have here somewhere but couldn't find it.

The "odd" induction noise was the intake screen on the snorkel being loose. It almost appears that somone has attempted to acquire it recently and been disturbed in the process.
