    Any Mt.Isa Members

I am heading up to the Isa again from the 1st november for up to two weeks work, and twas wondering if we have any members up there?
Last time there we where told of the slag pours of a night time,a spectacular sight to see,but no-one could tell us where or when,so am after some "local" inside info if possible,or any other things to do that are not too far out of town as we wont have a great deal of "free time" ,basically a drive in ,paint the units, drive out, maybe one day of r&r,mite try some of the hill climbs I noticed last year on the way out to the dam

Dont live there anymore Ferno but the way to get to the slag poor is to head out of town towards Boulia on the Mica Creek Road (down past the Irish club). If you go past the Tony White Oval you will come to a T intersecton. Turn right into the mine managers housing area. This is also where the big white 'manor' house is. If you keep following your nose through there onto a dirt road you should come around to a chain link fenced area. this area looks over the slag pits and every half hour or so the big slag trucks will come up and tip a load of molten slag into the pits. It was fairly impressive in its own small way. Dont know if you can still get there though.
Other than that i can recommend the picnic area past the lookout at the lake. If you follow the turn off to the right as you head up to the lookout there it goes down to a park where you can tease the peacocks or go fo a wander up to the dam wall.
Not much i know but it is Mt Isa and there is a reason no one stays there ;-)
