    Bloody hell Jock!

You have certainly been in the wars since we met, glad to hear you are O/K after the crash.

Sad to see the blue Deefer end up like that, your new one looks like a goer though.

I have been a bit slack replying to your PM, I will give you a call in the next couple of days, I might be able to buy some parts off you if you are wrecking the old girl, they could live on in Mongrel .

Keep your chin up, that should be your run of bad luck finished (3 things).

    Cheers Andy.

Dont worry mate I am now the proud owner of a set of steel caps

Not sure if the would have helped though. As it was the join on the side of the bucket that landed across my toes. I now have an imprint in the leather of my boots

    Thanks mate

Pretty sure I will be wrecking it. The same day I picked up my new Defender. Justin rang up and informed me he needed a 300 Tdi for a Disco that had just cooked its engine

Fair call but when you think about it something heavy enough to squash a steel toe boot wouldnt do much good for your toe anyway?

    Alrighty

Yesterday started pulling things out and switching things over.

    Now:

Also got the CD player switched over. Anyone after a standard Defender stereo send me a PM.

Today towed the Old with the New

Guessimate weight of close to 3 tons.

Was a bit slow up the hills, but had just enough power to sit on 80.

Amazing fuel economy. I used about 25 - 30 litres, to tow that amount 225 Ks. Works out around 12-14 L/100KM?

Used more fuel on the way home

3 Tons??? Your 110 weighs about 2100, X2, plus atleast 750Kg for the trailer...I would say you dragged 5 tons today

Was thinking just the trailer but when you add it up like that. Not bad going for a 2.5 Turbo

Thats why I like Defenders, takes you a while but they'll tow anything

I wrote off my Defender (it was insured and re-built) - would have just been a mere prang if the firewall hadn't been creased. I had no idea it was a write off - I drove it off the beach and home. I got the call and I was gutted and to this day I dwell on it from time to time. I remember asking a co-worker for a ciggie, I rarely smoke, and went for a walk in the park to keep it togetyher. (See my gallery for all the gory details - warning some viewers may find the images disturbing). Frank Sinatra sings
"Regrets, I've had a few, but then again too few too mention" well he never wrote off a Defender.

Anyway my insurance comapany paid me out (no claims in 14 years) and told me never to darken their doorstep again. i went to Shannons and got a package deal with my motorbike and all seems well but of course you never know until the worst happens.

No complaints about my last lot (brokers called Famous Car Company here in Perth) but alas after the prang it was not mutual.

Good luck for the future. When stuff like that happens you sort out the problem, either get it fixed or get a new one, and then you can move on.

I know a guy who pranged his F100, low milage, original and given to him by a family friend. It's not too bad he palns to fix it up but it's there in the shed looking at him and he can't stand it.

It would be great to have a parts vehicle to raid from time to time but Ii wonder if you should just flog it to Justin to get it out of your life even if Justin ends up selling bits back to you later on.

    cheers

    J
