Im a qualified Mechanic, Im the OH&S Rep at work and I have done the course, I have done 2 Chainsaw useage courses 1 for general cutting and 1 for felling, we run 4 Sthil saws, I make all my own chains and have a set up similar to a shop when it comes to saw maintenance.

We have all the safety gear and we use it all the time and if you take a saw out of the shed without the safety gear you get a written warning.

Safety isnt just a joke for cowboys like Rovercare and 953 to flame me over, it's there to save YOU from injury and maybe death.

Yeah it's possible to use a saw without the gear but it's not responsible and no matter what the excuses are it is shear lazyness, short sightedness or false economic reasons why people dont use the safety gear.

A certian coment made by Jim Richards after winning Bathurst comes to mind right now but they already know that and are just posting this rubbish to fire up a reaction.

To answer your queston, Ive looked at it, it is rubbish and I wouldnt own one but there are a couple of people who have bought one that are happy with it and if it were for just pruning light stuff then it may be fine in the hands of an experienced user.

Hey mate, I tried to get one of those GMC ones as a pruning saw but the guy at Bunnings said they didn't sell GMC stuff any more and any thing else was just clearing the warehouse of GMC stuff. I needed to get the job done and couldn't afford a husky saw so ended up with a Homelite one.

I have to say I am rather impressed. Cost $160-ish and has easily knocked off branches 5 arms thick. It has probbaly had 6 hours or thereabouts of running so far and it has taken a lot of weeds and branches down.

I'm happy with it. And I see absolutely no reason why it is not safer then the Stihl or Husquvarna I was using when I was away. I would prefer a husky but that's another story.

Much like when he fell on me at sheepyard one night, that saved him from landing in the fire though.

The funniest thing was watching him trying to walk away to take a leak and he was litterally walking sideways and backward more than forward, took him about 5 mins to walk 3 steps lol

Well if my opinion doesnt count thn this bloke has some sort of idea of what he is talking about.

The second one shows how easy it is to stuff up even when your experienced.

There are some interesting injuries on Youtube but I thought it may be just a bit gory for a G rated site.

Doesnt matter what saw brand you have, chainsaws are not a toy in any respect.

I got one of those GMC ones.
Still have 10 of my 12 fingers.

It has worked better than I expected it to.
