Thanks fo the kind advice. Hindsight is a simply wonderful thing. It was not my intention to use Dingo Track, the unmarked track closures due the flooding and bushfires meant that we either had to go that way, or return the entire length of Butchers, not really that much of a choice. Oh, and before I get the "You should have checked DSE", I just didn't ok.

Dunno about hindsight, If I was coming out either Butcher County or Dingo Hill from the Caledonian and saw you going in with a camper trailer I would have been racked with the guilts for not giving you the heads up, as you were alone. Then again, if there were campers in there to help I probably would have kept driving.
I think the advertising & tough build of the "offroad" campers give the impression that they can go anywhere.
They probably can- behind a Unimog.

Why do some people seek to hijack a thread for their own pontifications?
Ok Deejay....how many vehicles did we pass going in? NONE.
I'm quite sure that had we seen anyone coming out of the Butchers Link Track, they WOULD have said something. As previously stated, the 4wd/bush spirit of assistance and advice still remains.
As to whether or not the camper can take it...... ours is fine, it was the 200km+ diff that broke, NOT the O'BRIENS CAMPER.
Now, if you've NEVER made an error of judgement in your life, keep up the criticism. If you have, this stupid hijack will cease.
Happy to talk with people who might be able to help with a diff though.

I havent heard of it before but how many people out there have broken a diff or axle in a D2 - and what conditions/size tyres etc.

I dont have CDL...I just did a great Fraser trip with traction control only, but in time CDL might have to sneak back in (albeit expensive because I need output housing etc) just for this sort of reason.

Sorry to hear about the problem, but glad it turned out well...pity it was Toyos towing you out, because they will enlarge on the story big time

    Cheers

Nope Tojo's don't win here! The Jeep towed me up, the Tojo pulled the trailer with some difficulty. In the end, it was just the people in the bush that made it all turn out ok.
PM me if you want some costings on the complete CDL, if I hadn't fitted it, we'd still be there....no font wheel drive either.

Sorry you see it as criticism, and a hijack, I think what I said was on topic. My comment about the campervan was regarding the manufacturers marketing tactics.
    Anyway, enough pontificating
