There we were coming home from a wonderful trip on the Caledonia River (Vic), scrambling up the Dingo Track (with camper in tow), got the very last switchback on the way out and BANG, the rear diff self destructed
There we were in the middle of the track, fortunately early morning, me underneath removing the rear tailshaft, missus wardy doing the passing of tools, and thinking Hell, i hope we can get the rest of the way up in front wheel drive.
Well, we couldn't. Fortunatly we came across (or actually they arrived) a great group with a couple of prado's, a 60 and a new jeep. They kindly towed me up, returned back to the camper and pulled it up (albeit with more difficulty than we were having on the previous/more difficult stage)
It's nice to know that the spirit of the bush is still alive and well!
Anyway, I'm glad I had a CDL fitted, we had a nice drive home in front wheel drive....now I have to find a diff...... anyone got one?
D4 SDV6, a blank canvas
if the centre is the same as a d1 i have one
Thanks Wildone..... I'm thinking very seriously re the locker. Might as well get it in there while its all in bits. Why would you be wanting to sell a D2 as good as yours....esp leaving the beer fridge in LOL.
D4 SDV6, a blank canvas
Can anyone tell me if the D1 centre offered by Dirtydawg will fit please.

is your diff a 24 spline?
Yes it will fit. It is slightly different in the carrier but it will swap over as long as the d1 version is 24 spline
I just bought myself a Ranger XLT Crew Cab 4x4 with a full compliment of bits, Colour coded canopy, colour coded bullbar, snorkel, driving lights.....Not as capable as my Disco but far more suited for work and will make an excellent tourer. Has more power out of the box than my chipped Disco.
Will be VERY sad to see the Disco go but will get another Landy down the line for some offroad funPerhaps a 90??

Geez,
Dingo Hill track is - in my book- not the place to take a camper trailer..
I've nearly been trapped down there after rain, the track turns horrible. My father in law had an angina attack with me coming out of there once.
If you are going to go along similar tracks, better get an extra spare diff.
Campers are great to have but, if you put in a difflock and go down there again with it, be prepared to have a spiral driveshaft or busted axle.
Someone's gotta be the voice of reason.
