And that could apply to anything younger than 1987, guys can call eachothers cars Puma and Storm, petal and lilly. All a bit hippy to me personally.

We, the Isuzu owners have one thing you guys can never have. Almost a litre of displacement per cylinder.


Let us quickly compare a brand new Puma to my 23yr old Isuzu County ''The Turdis''


Puma has electronic traction control and antistall, so what

The Turdis came out with deadlocks on the front doors

The Puma has a place for your cuppa on the rocker cover

The Turdis has the ability to Froth milk on the Rocker cover therefore a Cappucino is possible

The Puma has an upmarket dash and carpeted interior

The Turdis does too plus 9 seater capacity

The Puma has a LSV version in the SVX

The Turdis has one too, it's called a Perentie

The Puma has great reports from around the globe

The Australian built Isuzu County is regarded as the ultimate Land Rover by many around the globe.

My initial thought is that following your logic would produce no change of name at all.

As i understand it, the new engine is popularly known as the Puma engine.
The previous engine was popularly known as the TD5.
I usually refer to my 1998 model as one of the last of the 300TDi Defenders.

The key here is not some obscure code name that might have been applied, but the popular name. It's a bit like the 48/215 always being referred to as the FX and the Morris Minor 850 being called a Mini. The popular name wins out over the official name.

So if your logic is applied, we will still have the 200TDi, the 300TDi, the TD5 and the Puma Defenders.

So we can all sleep at night knowing that there is no need for us to learn new names for our Defenders.

I guess it also helps that tdi, td5 is written on the vehicles....

TD5 stopped being written on them quite early on actually... maybe 00 or 01?

Hopefully today we'll actually have some "Storm" owners come on this thread and talk about the proposed new name.

So far we've just had tdi and isuzu owners tell us how good their engines are... LOL

Ah, Biggus Dickus, mine's an '88 Isuzu and the rego says it seats 10.
