Sitting in the defender minding my own business at the servo when a man comes over and says..........

you must be Mrs ho har...I look around and can't see any LR's

    yes.....

Red defender with that number plate, knew it had to be you

ho har comes out and rouses on me for talking to strange men but all OK

because it was.....scarry....he was driving his work truck

Amazing what magnets Land Rovers are.

I have had people come up to me saying that their dad used to have one, they drove one in the army etc.

Wonder whether any other marques are such a magnet or so iconic. Personally I doubt it.

    Regards

While at a servo with a Toyota driving mate once we were sitting there when 3 more Disco's drove in obviously meeting up with others going on a trip.

All 3 waved and my mate asked if I knoew them as I waved back and when I told him " No just LR drivers" he looked at me like I had a giant growth coming out of my head which was getting bigger.

Just shows the difference in attitude between owners of the different makes.

Good onya Scarry for saying Gday.

On the subject of LRs and their popularity and appeal, I saw a comment in a short article on the 60th at Cooma in "Australian Classic Car" to the effect that Land Rovers are probably the only vehicle that over half the world's population has seen.

    That could be right.
