    My workplace & town is in mourning

    The latest Digger to be killed in Afghanistan has been identified as Lieutenant Michael Fussell. He was fatally injured by an IED whilst conducting a foot patrol.

    Michael was a student at The Armidale School from 1994 to 2001; I remember him as being a very 'switched on' type of boy and was a natural leader in the school cadet unit.

    Our school held a memorial service this afternoon and the flag will fly at half mast until his funeral late next week. His body will be flown to Armidale on Thursday (most probably by one of his classmates who currently captains a C-130 based out of Richmond) followed by a military funeral.

    It is a very sad time for my workplace and our town

    Always very distressing to hear the loss of one of our troops, my sympathy to his family,friends and all who knew him. Our lost soldiers won't be forgotten. My thoughts are also with all the soldiers currently deployed.
