Hi all i need an immobiliser/alarm for my pride and joy any ideas on what will be well priced but reliable ?
Also what was the standard gearbox in the 130 ?
as i always thought the 101 gearbox was the toughest ever put on the road ( was it the 77) i have an 80 in mine where would that have come from and is it any chop ?
i am thinking that it's a rangie job regards andy

    G'day Lardy

The 101 had the LT 95 box in it only 4 speed, same as early Range Rover, your 130 would have the R380 and the LT230 transfer unit fitted. as they were standard fittment from the 90's onwards, execpt for the Aust Military Vehicles which have the LT95A fitted

    cheers

    Lardy,
I bought a Rhino Rav2 alarm/immobiliser off ebay and 2 sets of central locking kits and installed. There is a bit of work involved and all the black wiring takes a bit to sort out, but it is doeable at home if you are even half reasonable at auto electrics. I allowed 2 days doing bits here and there and it all works well.
As soon as you mention Defender most installers dont want to touch it or up the price. The stupid thing is the Defender is actually much easier to install the alarm than a Disco or RR. I positioned all the main gear behind and blow the dash cluster as there is a fair bit of room down there (gets a little tight when all the wiring is put in) and the alarm under the bonnet. It works well and is great being able to lock all 5 doors at once.
    Cheers

cheers Uncle Ho, i wondered what the bloke was mumbling about when i bought the thing!
All i heard was 80 i was buzzing from having just purchased my dream ride,he was going on about the fact that the gearbox was rock solid blah blah blah but there is enough backlash going on to make my old disco look good ...could it be uj's or do i have to look at the gearbox straight off ?
I know the disco would have set me back $1400 i think it was to correct defender same or worse ?????
if that is the case would a rangie gearbox be tougher or not ?

Yeah Craig i hear ya, i think just an immobiliser and maybe an alarm will be my friend i dont do electric windows or locks as its more to go bang later i like crude basics easier on my pocket is my thought, will look on ebay but cheers for the tip
    Regards Andy
