Correct.
I went staight through from Coff's to Melbourne using the M2 & M7 through Sydney. The Eastlink tag worked and I have been billed.
The only problem I think was turning onto the M2 in the left lane to be confronted by toll booths and the E-tag drive through was on the far right
With the caravan on the back a few swerve & avoidance techniques were the order of the day.
I gather the plan is for the Gateway Bridge, the Logan Motorway, and Campbell the Mole's tunnels to be "no cash" electronic tag only, and there will be a quarterly "minimum use" charge. When this occurs I will no longer use the Gateway as I can easily get north to the Bruce highway without it, I have no need whatsoever for the Logan Motorway, and can't conceive of a need to use the tunnels as long as there are still bridges across the Brisbane River.

[quote=garrycol;864123]So I can go from down town Sydney to Manly by a quick road route without paying a toll or needing an e-tag - I think not.
There is NO quick way from the CBD to Manly but, provided you avoid the SE Distributor, you can do it toll-free. As another has said, the same can't be said of the return without going massively out of your way.
A lot of people who do not know the road system find themselves on tollroads and end up with the fine or the toll plus all the associated administration charges. It is easier just not to go there.
That's worked.![]()
You are right, while the M7 was set up for tags only, the M2 is older and catered more for cash. I think they still have some work ahead of them to sort that properly.
And then consider Pennant Hills Rd (the current link between the F3 & the M2). Originally, it was supposed to be bypassed using a tunnel. If they'd done that there would many fewer "accidents"/delays on that stretch.
I wonder if it will go ahead now.
Best Wishes,
Peter
Like Rick130 I have an E-pass instead of a tag so it costs me an extra 75 cents (I think) each trip.
With my mother in Camden and my wife's mother in Lindfield, I travel the M7 & M2 a few times a year, but can avoid driving in other parts of Sydney.
At the moment it allows me to do what I want with no fuss on the M7, but I have to pay cash on the M2.

They are saying it will be etoll only eventually.
I rarely use any toll road either and was going to hand it back when they said the $10/quarter minimum charge but kept it when it didn't happen.
I'd be lucky to use the gateway bridge for one return trip a quarter these days.
