    Would you accept it??

I just was checking my vehicle service logbook I keep for the Defender, not the dealer stamped one, but the one I keep to record the things I do,(oil changes, brake pads etc..) and besides the fact that I've done 2014kms since the 5th of March 2008 it got me to thinking.
I keep this log so I can keep up with where I'm at with vehicle maintenance and if I were ever to sell the Fender,I would expect a potential buyer to accept it as proof of servicing.
So with that in mind, would you accept the fact that I have been on AULRO for "X" number of years and have accumulated "X" no. of posts with questions on how to change oils, filters, slave cylinders etc.. as further proof that the vehicle has been well maintained as well as collaborating what my logbook says??Just an interesting discussion point as to another use for the internet.

I would look at the log book and if it looked legit and you came across as being a Landy freak then I would accept it. Your history on AULRO wouldn't be a consideration at all except as evidence that you're a landy freak.

    Bring out the freaks!

My history on AULRO of whinging about my blown up gearbox made for an interested denial when the buyer said he'd noticed it here.

He also asked where the cargo barrier, driving lights and A/Ts had gone.

so how about if I go back through all my posts and show you pics I posted of things that leaked that now dont etc.. Surely thats gotta be worth a lot more than a dealers/workshop stamp as to the fact that the work was really done??

Simple answer is No but that is if I was a complete stranger.

If it was also supplied with reciepts then that would collaborate what you have written in your book.

When I bought the Disco, It had a complete stamped service book with service stamps from all over Australia and then a box of reciepts which included more accessories and the fitting of accessories than repairs with the rego number and corrasponding dates on most stuff so I was pretty happy that I had bought a good vehical and it has prooven to be so for the last 5 years.

The best thing you could do is to keep all receipts (for Repairs, Accessories and thelike) with the book along with the normal service book and then it cant be disputed.

Your AULRO membership I dont think has much of a bearing as you dont need any qualifacations to be a member.

It is a god thing to keep though, I wish I had kept up with keeping all the reciepts etc but my stash in a box on top of the fridge got found and "cleaned up" while I was at work one day so it is now sadly all gone and so I dont keep them any more.

IMO if a landrover stops leaking, there are major maintenance issues evident, specifically in regards to topping up oil levels........

To be honest a log book means f,all to me if the car is well maintained it will be easy to spot if it,s not been maintained that will also be easy to pick
A log book is for nuffies with lots of $
I drive the car and make all my conculsions from looks the drive and the way the interior has been cared for
Of course if the car has been detailed the average punter would find it hard to judge the condition
In my line of work ive seen many a log book stamped just to make it look good for a sale present or at a latter date
    This is my opinion only

who you are selling it to. I would think it would be better than no log book at all and not as good as a dealer service log book with all the services to someone buying.

I would trust your record more than any dealer log book.
I have about 10 pages over the 9 years I have owned my RRC.
BUT I buy the person as much as the car. If there were 5 dungers in the yard and the house needed a paint I would wonder.

I would think a AULROIAN would take great interest in it.
If it came with receipts for parts, most others would accept it,,

can you sell the car for more because of it??
