    Disco1 hub nut

    Hi all,

Just want to pick your brains. We are going to change the disk rotors on my son's Discovery Series I and are wondering what size the centre hub nut is and can it be done with a conventional socket or do I have to get the special tool?

    Thanks
    Allan

If you can find a 51 MM socket ! LOL.
The special tool is just a tube spanner which costs about $15 from a specialist.
A BIG pair of sliding multigrips can do it or even a cold chisel , but its nicer to have a proper tube spanner.
Just undo/bend the lock plate first and the lock nuts usually are not very tight. The adjusting nut under the lock nut is only finger tight.

That's a coincidence. I've just come in for a drink after doing just that. Yes, I use large multigrips. New locktabs are worthwhile, especially if they've been used a few times and some flange gaskets. Don't forget to repack the bearings while they're out.
