    Smile oysters today

The girls and I went to pick oysters off the rocks near Cygnet today Got about 2 dozen juicy, fat, succulent little shellfish!
They are currently being shucked in readiness for baking with Worcester sauce, lemon and breadcrumbs, a nice glass of Semillon Blanc and a fine Double gloucester or rubicon red cheese after...

...And its back to work tomorrow

Hope everyone had a restful break, and work hard in 2009!

    Sounds great.

When I was a kid living in Sawtell on the NSW North Coast I used to reckon the only was to eat oysters was to be standing knee deep in Boambee Creek, bashing them of the rock with a stone. rinsing them in the salt water and eating them on the spot.

I would still eat them that way if I could.

Ha, the worst thing is the other half has an iodine allergy and loves oysters. She says after eating quite a few, her throat starts to close up and she has to stop...

Just had one, Tabasco and lemon and salt....MMMMMM. The others are going on a dough/ pizza type base and grlled with a sharp cheese and herbs/ garlic...
And the wine is now nicely chilled

I suppose you are going to claim that the last dozen you had only nine of them worked.

Yes I agree, but you would have to agree wouldn't you with Jonathon Swift's comment, "Twas a brave man indeed that 'et the first oyster"
