    some useful information??

I recently rebuilt one of my Moto Guzzis and have done around 2500kms on the new engine and was well pleased with myself, however a few days ago I was cleaning up the workbench and found something that put a chill up my spine.Laying innocuously at the bottom of my 1/4 drive socket set was a circlip!! Not just any circlip but an exact replica of the ones that hold the gudgeon pin into the piston of 1000cc Moto Guzzis. This has caused me to lay awake at night and to drink more than usual as you can well understand! To make matters worse I was in the process of re-ringing another bike and could confirm that the clip did indeed fit the piston perfectly, and they say big boys dont cry!!I then went to the local wrench at work and pleaded with him to tell me where else one might find such a circlip, his reply "Looks like its from a gudgeon pin!".Damn.Then suddenly it came to me, its the clip off the clutch switch on the TD5 that I disconnected some years ago.So all you TD5 owners, remember, if you ever come across a guy with a busted Goose on the side of the road he may want to cannabalise a part off your Landy AND if your clutch switch falls off, look for the nearest Guzzi.Suddenly its a great day!!!!

You've never had people add extra stuff to your box of parts from a stripped down engine/gearbox, etc?

Glad you didn't have to pull the bike down again, Steve.

Reminds me of the time when some one, who shall remain nameless , threw a handfull of nuts and bolts under the truck (91 Walter) as we left the airport fire station. Wen we came back (the next day) for afternoon shift it became apparent that the truck had been off line all day, airport at reduced (firefighting) category, NOTAMs issued .

No one was game to own up.

I feel your pain. On a similar note, has anyone experience 'the vanishing nut/washer/screw' etc before? How is it, when working on a vehicle, if you drop a nut you just took off, it bounces to the ground, and you cant find it!!!! Its only several days/weeks later that I find it
