Well actually, proper Land Rover-iquette (which I intend to keep on making up as I go along) states that you must wave at another oncoming Defender (hard for it to do this if it's empty), but if the vehicle is stationery and you approach from the front (in-car or on foot) then you are still obliged to wave. Sorry, but it's the rules.

They may be inanimate, but they still know when you skip protocol. You will probably find yours fails to start properly sometime in the next week or so in solidarity with the 3 vehicles you snubbed.

Oncoming waves are of course obligatory, unless you have dropped a cigarette in your lap or have a spider in the cabin - then just avoiding a head on collision is acceptable.

I must be unetiqual then. I always wave - dont care what direction.
If we stop at the lights I wind down the window and say g'day.

I even wave on the opposite lane of a freeway in peak hour - don't often get a response though

SVX drivers are probably grumpy because they are having to drive 1000km to find an authorised service centre.

No that's just anyone outside of a capital city (with a few exceptions). I'm sure LR's advertising will have a statement like Telstra's... 98% of owners are close to a dealer or some such rubbish

And for the record: Its a Puma 110 and its over 1100km to the dealer and the road is impassable.

Forgot to mention. We all know each other in town so it's kind of redundant up here.

When I travel, I do wave, but I'm usually in a hire car so I get a funny look.

It's like karma - you can never have too much good. Only a failure to wave in obligatory scenarios (like those I am in the process of making up) will cause the universe to react against you down the track.

When I'm not in RR I try telepathy. I'm not sure that it's worked yet.

On our camping holiday we did a couple of drives, one down to Wilsons Prom and past probably 30 other LR's of all different types, you know not to expect waves from RR sports, P38a's and D3's but I was handing them out but recieving nothing........EVEN FROM A SIIa shorty soft top with no door tops.

I was very disappointed I must say, my wife and kids turned it into a joke where they would see a LR coming towards us and all sit on the edge of their seat, I'd give the wave and they would all go "Noooooooo".

I did get a wave from a nice 80 series landcruiser which was following a D2, a good out the window series type wave as well and a lifted finger from a Subi imprezza and I didnt even iniciate the wave so I assumed he must have a LR as a second car so I waved back

So ive come to the conclusion that some of the people down your way Chris that own LR's are:
    a. Not real LR enthusiasts
    b. Not on this forum
    c. Not very freindly

But I must say, those that I do know from down that way are top folks so I think the others must need re-education

Mate i dont bother with disco,s if i saw you on the the road it would be a 1 finger wave
Anyway im talking about The yuppies that do buy the SVX ,
Sorry to those on the forum that own a SVX im sure you would not snubb another fender owner ,And i was,nt talking about those SVX owners from here
Oh and Solmanic your etiquette idea that you think is right does not cut it on a country hwy with no traffic lights or intersections to stop at
So ill still wave if a fender goes past me in the same direction
