    Angry What p***es me off

The family and I have just returned from a great week away of camping, 4wding and fishing. Whilst away we thought we would have the usual problems of ants and other insects but this was not an issue except for one morning i was found by sand flies... a few annoying stings for my stupidity, of not dressing appropriately.
We got home tonight after a lengthy day on the road to discover a trail of black ants heading under our front door. After proceeding through the house to our kitchen to our absolute horror and disgust our kitchen was a moving mass of black ants in every cupboard with food in it and they were even trying to get in the fridge.
We've just spent the last 3hrs spraying the mongrels and washing out the cupboards and mopping floors. This was 3 hrs i could've spent unpacking and sorting out gear.
Anyway that was my rant and rave. Sorry everyone.

    Cheers Rob

    A cure

Where they are likely to enter your house, cracks, under doors etc place a row of cotton balls or tissue paper soaked in bleach that they will have to cross over, dont leave any gaps This is effective with a lot of small pests and will work on most small birds like starlings where they like to nest eg under eves etc.
    It an old bush trick

No - I think you mean borax and sugar. Quite effective, but put it where the pets and the kids can't get it. I usually put it in a jar lid with it slightly moistened.

    G'day Folks

Aah! "sugar ants" they usually turn up looking for food about 10 days before we get decent rain they are about 1/8 inch (3mm?) long in their thousands, and as JD said Borax & sugar does the number on them, but don't put it where children or animals can get it or then you will have big problems

    cheers

Interesting - the names, that is, what I know as sugar ants are about 12mm long and quite fat.
