Cool Tim The Tool Man Stuff

OK ! So i have been given a rideon lawn mower without a motor and deck . My first thoughts are to scrap it but then I thought " what sort of motor could i fit in it !" . I was thinking of something like a YZ 426cc engine out of a bike . Any thoughts on what motor i could use that is not too ridiculous .

Just remember that the original setup probably had a vertical crankshaft and you are looking a engines with horizonal cranks. Anything you can lay your hands on is going to need some "figuring" anyway, so the drive side of things wont be any different. Good luck, should be fun. Progress pics would be nice.

    Try a VW engine

I have seen two ride on mowers with VW motors fitted , a bit of engineering required but they were fun

I'll get some pics up once i get a new camera . I was thinking of the dirt bike engines as they only need small cooling systems and still have plenty of grunt .
