How about I wont pick on you for not being good at maths and physics and you dont pick on me for being no good at english.

English at the secondary school level is based on literature, not spelling and grammar.

That should have been taken care of at primary school.

Still, genuine mistakes and quick "typo's" are fine by me. We all make them.

For me, it feels like you need to use an Enigma machine to decipher what some people are trying to say when all they use is sms and "leetspeak". (or however you spell it)

Then again, with a username like mine............... who am I to judge.

How many threads have been started regarding poor spelling. For Christ's sake, get the *** over it.

There are way too may more important things in life that if someone can't spell. If you find it so offensive, don't read the forum , or better still, join a forum where spelling is the no. 1 rule. (Try Oxford Dictionary forum).

Give us all a break. Who cares???

Gee, not ALL of us are Rhodes scholars you know!

Some of the nicest people I have met are here on this board, and I would hazard a guess and say some members here probably have average or even below average spelling skills but who really cares?

I am more interested in the big picture myself.

CErtainly some proffessions require exemplary spelling and communication skills, but I don't think communicating with other Landrover enthusiasts over a public access forum from all parts of the globe and all walks of life is one of those.

The 'Illiterate monkeys' phrase was very badly chosen and in poor taste.

BAD SPELLERS OF THE WOLD UNTIE

    AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I have a university degree in teaching, actually it's not worth a damn but it looks good on my CV. I think that I am a better person allround for having gone to uni as it open my eyes to understanding myself and others a lot more.

In most of my posts even after proof reading them I still hit the edit button and correct my spelling. This is easy enought to check as it is at the bottom of most of my posts as the reason why I have edited them.

It is purely personal my wanting to be better at both spelling and grammer as I have my great aunt's ghost sitting on my shoulder all the telling me that I am being lazy if I don't use the kings English properly. Once I neither cared nor could spell or use grammer correctly, but I am self teaching myself all the time as I now understand it to mean that the better I am at commnicating the better I am at both.
