they probably all said that no Pommie driver had ever actually passed his driving test as well - yet despite being able to go anywhere in Europe (and on the "wrong" side of the road, at that) and elsewhere on the strength of a British driving licence, here, they have to undergo another driving test in a country where they still can't fathom a roundabout out, treat their indicators as "confirmators", think the rear view mirror is for brushing their hair or applying make-up and drive along dual carriageways side by side for miles on end with the justification that they'll be turning right 25ks down the track, whilst some poor bugger stuck behind them actually wants to drive above 43kph.
At government level, they have the balance better than most Europeans for sure, where it's really gone **** about face, but they don't have their red-neck, xenophobic reputation for nothing.
I'll no doubt get the usual "if you don't like it............." and you wonder why.

One thing that I think makes non Aussies think we are perhaps more racist than we are is our genetic pre-disposition to take the ****, extract the Michael.
If you do this to an Irish man for the sake of the argument, they may think you are being racist but the don't see you doing the same to the 5th generation Aussie down the road or the yank or the kalathumpian.
We aint racist, we take the **** out of everyone on an equal opportunity basis. Including and especially ourselves !!![]()
This has happened to me too but; I'm born in WA I have a birth certificate to prove it
Just trade "pom" for "yank" and the one lady that added a lot of worse #### words before yank she was Italian. I figure sometimes people are just like that because they feel threatened.
There is a BIG difference between a joke and racism. Intent makes a world of difference.
I do agree every country is racist to some extent. If you are a victim though it feels worse to you no matter what any one else says. Australia is far from the worst but for those who have been victimized it can seem like that.
Can I just say certain organizations are very welcoming to all people for example; this club.
I think when people share a common interest where you are "from" no longer matters.
Horsey people are like that too and stud sheep breeders but not the cattle guys.
Yes I remember during the conflict of the Malvinas (Falkland Islands) I was tretated by some English gentlemen very "nicely"
I am not Argentinian, just born across the River Plate but my argument was to not taken seriously![]()
Everyone is different, no two are made the same and that's a good thing.
Every Land Rover is different, no two are made the same and that's a good thing.
Cherish difference, it makes life interesting and it keeps us Land Rover owners busy.
