    Hi Taff,

It was a combination of both reallly. I bought a Protection and Performance external/Internal cage, but it ddint fit exactly what I wanted. It also didnt come with any mounts (dont ask!)

I ended up getting hold of some CDS cage tubing and making the two extra roof bars (the top ones) and all the associated plates and so on, along with the corresponding turetts on the hoop for them to bolt too.

I also put a second diagnol on the main hoop as it only had 1.

I then made all of the mounts, with the exception of the 2 inside the front wings which I bought off the shelf.

It really was possibly the most time consuming job I have ever done.

The rear mounts, both under the hoop and in the back corners are immensley complicated. The rear most ones, tie into my rear body, x-member end sliders too.

I can try and get some pics if you like?

pete, if you could that'd be great. the front hoop will be the same as the on we made on the county so i won't need anything form there. i'm more interested in where your rear hoop attaches. i don't think i'm going to put any diagonals on that hoop as i'm going to put a 3rd on the back.

    thanks jason

    Hi Jason,

    Here you go:

    Main hoop mount:

From the front (ish) you can also see here the handy bolt locating bracket just behind it!

    From the rear (ish)

You can see that we basically made a tapered block out of 6mm plate that fits tightly between the floor and the top of the cross member. The driver side was harder on the TD5 due to the fuel filter. i did get it all to fit but there was a fiar bit of work involved.

The main hoop, seen here is then bolted into tapped holes in the mount ( I am just thinking we may have used 8mm plate for the top face of the mounts)

here's the turrets I made to allow the second pair of roof bars to fit. Made from cds again. You can also just about see the slot we had to cut in the roof rib to allow the side bar turret fit.... I also drilled through the face to get to the now hidden nuts and bolts)

    Here the corresponding roof bar

    The rear diagonal mounts

Again made from CDS and 6mm plate. All bolted in to the cross member to and face and tied into the rear body protector.

This is the rear diagnol mount inside the car

Before anyone says anything, some of these pics were taken when it was being made, hence no paint.

    Well done mate

I only ever once got my Landy in a magazine, the LRO one and the photo would have made a 50c piece look big

BTW what tyres are they? Insa Turbo Special Tracks or are they the Simexs?

    Thanks
