    motorbike Q

I know there is a few people on here that ride so I thought I would get some opinions. I am looking at buying a bike (giving up the smokes incentive) & would like a sports-tourer. I want something thats good on the wrists & back. I have a budget of about 4-5k(ish). I would love a VFR750 (94-95) but they seem to hold there value REALLY well. The others I thought of might be : suzuki gsxf750 (99-00), zzr600, bandit, possibly sv650. Any other ideas? Feedback appreciated.

    well,,
nothing with an R or SS in its name will be nice to your wrists and back,,,

    [well maybe a BMW 1100/1200RS,,

    but you need Looooong legs!]

I once rode to WA from Sydney with a guy on a Mille,,
he was a wreck by the time we got there,,

buy something with the same seating body position as your LR.

Don't buy one of those modern bikes with a seating position where you are bent over the tank like a greyhound rooting a bowling ball. Guzzis are good. If you know anyone with one, have a look at a 1950's Matchless twin. They are a wonderfully comfortable cruiser. Get a modern bike with a similar seating position.

My last bike was a BMW R1150GS. It is an excellent tourer and can put to shame many of the sport bikes. The handling is awesome and the payload is like any BMW excellent

I will say that is like a Land Rover on 2 wheels

out of that list if I could not get a VFR it would be the Bandit. Plenty of easy to use power, not too complicated and a good riding position for older riders that can no longer stand the sports bike riding position.

I'll take a dozen at $4-5k each thanks Brian.
I think he's after something a tad more practical.
