Posting pictures on the forum, explained.

I notice quite often the question of ‘how to post pictures in full size on the forum’ ? is asked. I think we all like to see pictures in posts….I certainly do.
I’m no computer expert, but I’ll try to explain, as simply as I can, a couple of ways to do it. I’m happy to be corrected if I get something wrong or if there’s an easier way, but this works for me. I hope it helps.

Also, see here for more info >>>> http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-ch...tos-forum.html
I don’t want to make this thread too complicated by going into detail about image size, but as a general rule, up to 800 pixels wide is ok. Anything bigger can take a lot longer to load.
I use Photoshop to resize my pictures, but maybe someone else can suggest a simple way to do it, remembering that not everyone is a computer expert. Keep it simple.

    Cheers, Murray

First method…….if you want to post a picture that you have on your own computer

You can’t post a pic in full size directly from your PC. You need to have the pic stored somewhere on the internet, like on an image sharing site. There are many to choose from and they are usually free. For the purpose of this thread, I’ll refer to the site called ‘Photobucket’. Go to the site and register here >>>> Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket
    .

Once you’ve uploaded your pics to Photobucket you will be able to view them in your album/s. Place your mouse over a picture and a drop down menu will appear

Left click on ‘IMG Code’, then right click on ‘copy’.

Go to your post window in AULRO, right click in the window and left click ‘Paste’.

The code will appear. Your picture will not appear at this stage, but what you see is basically the web address of the pic with a code at each end which will make it appear in your post. But you don’t have to worry about the details, the main thing is it works.

Finish writing in your post if you want to, or just leave it as the pic only. Click ‘Submit Reply’ and your pic will appear in your post.

Second method……If you want to post a picture you have seen on the net on some other site

Right click on the pic, then left click ‘properties’.

Highlight the ‘Address (URL)’. Right click on the highlight and left click ‘Copy’.

Go to your post window in AULRO and left click on the ‘Insert image’ icon above the window.

A small window will appear. Right click on the highlighted text, then left click on ‘Paste’.

    Click ‘OK’

The image code will appear as explained before. Finish writing in your post if you want to, or just leave it as the pic only. Click ‘Submit Reply’

The pic from the net will appear in your post.

Just 2 confuse things, In your 2nd method, rather than selecting properties, just select copy image location. then paste this in to the Insert Image box

I realise this thread is directed more towards full size photos, but...

What about clicking on 'manage attachments' when posting a reply. Click browse and upload you photo to your AULRO user space.

I read the "how to upload photos..." thread a while ago, and it never mentioned the above method. Why? I stuffed around for ages on Photobucket (thinking it was the only way) and eventually figured the 'manage attachments' thing out myself. I understand that people want to post directly in full size, but someone could at least MENTION that the other method exists.

"You can't post a pic in full size directly from your PC" is not entirely true. Its in full size, but just one simlpe click away. IMHO, a thumbnail pic is better because the viewer can choose to look at a photo (or ignore them if someone posted 20 boring photos in one post). Yes, i have dial-up internet.

Why is this extremely obvious method overlooked in these "how to post photos..." threads?
