That sounds like an opportunity for a little trip . Maybe when the rains have eased. Whatever I decide to do, this is not really a job for the insurance company unless there is chassis damage, but I seriously doubt it.

Rear end collisions are pretty simple in that the car behind is at fault, period. Especially if the car behind was the only one moving.

Well SWMBO doesn't quite see the opportunity the way I do.

One thing that is going to be interesting is what damage the other party actually claims was caused by me. I am kicking myself for not taking a photo on my phone because now I think about it, there was what looked like a vertical dent in her boot possibly caused by backing into a pole. I can't recall whether the entire rear of her car folded in at the centre, but looking at the height and lack of damage to my bumper, I am not sure she didn't have prior damage.

Either way I will be letting my insurance company know of my thoughts and on closer inspection it shouldn't be hard to determine if it is all from this accident, or damage on top of prior damage.

The bar's not going anywhere. I'll be passing through Brisbane late July but may be out to Darwin in May if the track is open. I'll keep you in mind for it.

Its all good Im the master of number plate bending. Ive already bent the second set on your old 110. The cost of replacing them is nothing to standing in Qld Transport - caboolture for 1hr.

Especially when the other vehicle is made out of tin-foil and chip wrappers. BTW, I was interested to see the vintage Top Gear episode tonight was all about safety ratings, Hummers and urban assault vehicles... how fitting.

Has anyone actually seen a Defender NCAP rating, or better still, footage of a Defender crash test? Why has it not been tested when they are quite common in the UK where everyone is in a constant state of paranoia about that sort of thing?

    NCAP ?

    NCAP?

Ratings do not matter - anything forward of a Land Rover and its bar IS a crumple zone......
