Where is a good benevolent dictator when you need one.
It would be nice to have them stored on a shelf to use them as part time leaders when the situation requires it.

So nothing changes - the economy continues to fall, unemployment continues to rise and we have both a local and federal government that are useless as each other

Health and Education will suffer, small business will close, big business will continue to move offshore and unemployment will rise to levels never seen in this country before, but hey at least we aren't broke like the USA !!! right well not yet.... but let Anna and Kevin keep going and we will be within the year!!!!!!!

And yes the opposition is no better either - that's the whole issue at the end of the day

Do I have an answer - NO - but if I meet a politician who owned and drove his landrover everyday and lived for his family friends and the country - then they would get my vote

Perhaps this is true, but just how do we know? Did we know that Kevvie and his hacks would be any better? Did we know that John Winston would be better than Keatings flakes? Did we know what the current coalition Govt in WA was gunna be like?
You have summarised what many feel......they didn't know if the alternative would be better, so played the 'devil you know card'.
No sense of adventure I say

Seems to me that in many cases governments change not because people are voting for the guy administration, but that they're voting against the old one.
