    accessories from the UK

I HAVE PRICED ACCESSORIES FROM LRPARTS IN THE UK AND EVEN WITH POSTAGE THEY ARE 1/2 THE PRICE OF AUSSIE SELLERS. DOES ANY BODY KNOW IF YOU HAVE TO PAY ANY SORT OF IMPORT TAX WHEN THEY ARE DELIVERED?

I ordered a few times from them:

Land Rover, Range Rover and Discovery Spare Parts - Pegasus Parts, Surrey, UK.

Never paid import tax so far. Probably depends how big the stuff is you get in.

You might want to try and ask them to mention it is a 'gift' (although this was never necessary for me).

    Cheers,
    Daniel

I ordered parts from USA and I am looking at some parts from UK and as previously quoted you need to keep under $1000 Aus dollars.
Checked this on Govt web site for importing goods.
Be carefull if its over $1000 and you try split order into two they will pick this up if they are too close together and make you pay import duty on both orders.
Do not now what too close together is have herd of one person that ordered his orders 4-5 weeks apart and he got charged import duty on both orders as total was over $1000.

I heard something about import duty if your order is $1000 within the same calendar month.

Be aware the "threshold value" of $1000 is inclusive of postage costs. (i.e. if buy $850AUD worth of stuff and pay $160AUD in shipping, you'll be liable for import duties).

Based on previous experience where I've had multiple shipments of < $1000 in a short space of time (without incurring import fees), I think the import duty on multiple shippments only applies if you're buying form the same seller.

So as far as I'm aware, if you spread shopping list amongst several UK retailers, I think you should be OK.

    Cheers

$1,000 is limit and it does slip through if you declare item as gift. I recieved "gifts" from the USA many times and recently got a letter from the friendly customs people to let me know that my whole family should be all gifted out by now, I think that was a hint. The only issue is a lot of retailers now will not send as a gift declaration.
