Thread: Haflinger Don't Buy!!!

I have to say with regard to the OP, I find this poor form. Particularly for AULRO.

Someone had an item thing you wanted but didnt want to pay their asking price, or anywhere near it.
Who cares how much they wanted for it.
Make an offer, dont sulk if the seller didnt see things your way or you percieved they were rude......sounds like you offended them just as much.

Would you be happy to find a forum where the guy was rubbishing you in a manner that could identify you in public just because of your low offer?

Then getting on here and posting warning warning dont buy. This sort of behaviour is rubbish and IMO had no place in this forum.

They are worth what the market dictates.

And are so few and far between now, you you happen to want one they are worth every penny.

Could not say the same for some brand new 4x4's but people still buy them, go figure !!

When I owned my 1973 LWB Haflinger, I was under the impression that only 1000 Haflingers came to Ausrtalia and that only 20 of them were LWB.

I have no idea where I got that idea from. Can anyone confirm if those figures are anywhere near the mark?

Mine was also a little different in that it was fitted with the fibreglass cab made in Australia and the optional wide tyres. (900x12 I think) So that would have made it part of an even more exclusive group.

I love Haflingers and would really love one but I really do not see how current prices are worth it. Getting close to Pinzgauer prices. One recent Haffie on ebay did not sell for $15K.

Nice great vehicle but not worth their price but obviously a lot of buyers disagree.

Interestingly enough this was said to me by everyone when I bought my Isuzu 110. They thought I was a total nutter for spending 8k on it. By looking at it they figured it was worth 2 or 3. When you look at how much jap 4x4's of the same era go for, they would be right.

Each to their own. if someone wants to sell a haf.. they set the price. If I ever sell my 110, I'll set the price and no doubt dozens of people will tell me I'm mad. whatever

And anyway, maybe his wife told him to sell it. He sets a high price, no one buys it.. he gets to keep it. Oldest trick in the book.

I would have to agree with you - Isuzu landies are grossly overpriced and I do not see the interest in them either

so does anyone know how many were made and how many came to australia?
