Road trip report...... Ha ha..... Yeah right. Melb to Tamworth to Sydney to Melb

    Guys,
Went on a small road trip on Thurs night.
Got bored so jumped in the rangie with a mate ans headed to tamworth... left melb at 11pm Thurs and got to tamworth at 10.30am Friday, then a few hours to pick up a TDI disco and back on the road to sydney.... got to Wyong at about 4pm then it took 2 freeeeeking hours to get from Wyong to Liverpool.
Left liverpool, headed over to MuddyMech's and Dullbirds to drop some stuff off and then left for melb at 11.30am Sat. Got to Melb at about 9pm Sat.

Great run and the Rangie never missed a beat. TDI got the best economy cruising at 110kmh from Tamworth to wyong, thru sydney bypassing the m7 like i should have taken and then off to liverpool. Filled back on the hume 100km on the melb side..... 8.5l/100km... i thought it was wrong, so i checked again... GPS and odometer was 540km and 45l fuel.....
Then on the trip back to melb, i wound the wick up.... and payed the price with the law, but thats another story... Did you know that a 300tdi disco will do 170kmh...... and yeah its not by the speedo.... i have the photo to show it and no i wont post it......

Anyhow the economy at "above the speed limit" was only 10.5l/100

Still damn impressive... i forgot how good a 300tdi was.....

    For your information.....
129 in a 110 zone will cost you $270 in Vic
driving an unregistered car in Vic $576

He he..... it was fun anyhow......

    Clarkie

If what you dropped off at Dullbird's is what I think it is, thank you it is coming to me (from Phoenix via Black Bill)

However, if you were caught in NSW with an unregistered vehicle it would cost you far more than $576 - it is $1,026.00 because it is 2 offences unregistered and uninsured plus 4 points and on top of that. The speeding would have cost you $324.00 and another 3 points.

What is worse is that it is very easy to get pulled over for unregistered vehicle in NSW because of new technology. The highway patrol now have cameras (in car and portable) that read the Rego number then compare it to the RTA database which alerts them to registered status, unpaid fines and even arrest warrants of household members. The in car cameras fitted in forward and rearward directions even read oncoming cars.

All very silly when you could have got an unregistered vehicle permit for only a few dollars.

Still once again, thanks for the antenna sections.

    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
