I got prices for a couple of options and wanted to know what you thought, these are dealer prices for genuine parts including fitting.

black chequer plate kit including wing tops: $1895
    Expedition Roof Rack: $2300
    Snorkel $1800

I will source a bull bar and winch from somewhere else as they will only supply and fit the A frame Bar.

Do you think this is expensive? I am still going to salary package it so probably wont make a great deal of difference to the cost.

    Thanks
    Patrick
Forgot to add Side Protection Runners have not got a price for these yet.

    Cheers

Please go to rover craft who advertise here and get a price for these things and also give arb/ tjm a call about snorkle/ bullbar. You may be salary packaging but you will lose more than your tax advantge with the LR dealer charging you MORE than double what it will cost you buying and getting it fitted elsewhere!

Thanks for that Frantic, I went to their site but there are no prices.

Do you know where I can get a price list or do I just contact them with the parts I want a price for?

    thanks

Only caution I would add is that fitting anything on the air intake yourself could cause you warranty issues, if for example the engine is dusted. You'd be able to fight them on this but its a PITA, better to get them to fit the snorkel for you and then it's all under their warranty. Might cost a bit more, but it will take years of your life fighting the warranty crap.

Lance Dixon's were willing to buy and fit an ARB snorkel (Safari) for cost, I ended up paying $450 or something like that. That was some time ago though. I also got a Warn 8274 for their cost price from ARB.

I'd also avoid putting a roof rack on it for the first few months - it's possible it might have to go back for water leak fixes or a panel realignment - which might be refused if you fit a roof rack.

When we bought our Defender (novated lease in 2006) we had snorkel, ARB winch bar and heavy duty towbar fitted at purchase. The snorkel and bullbar were fitted by ARB and were cheaper than Land Rover items by far.

If you get a towbar and you are intending on fitting a long range fuel tank at a later date, fit a genuine Hayman Reece towbar. The usual long range tank will not fit with a Land Rover towbar.

All items were included in lease and the total vehicle cost was about $8000 below list. ie list price at the time on road was around $54000. With extras we paid $46000.

I bought (and had fitted by dealer) the genuine LR full black checker plate kit and snorkel - 2 years ago - it was extortion then, but those prices are nuts.

This still hurts, but the full checker kit and snorkel fitted were $2000.00. Now that is expensive, but I still reckon it was worth it. I've had a close look at other owners Rovercraft etc kits, but I am yet to see a checker kit which I think is as good as the genuine article (no offense anyone). On the other hand, I preferred the OL low profile racks to anything else. Have a good look around at what's available before you buy anything - you can get the genuine stuff within 3 months of purchase and get the full 3 year warranty, so no need to buy straight away if you haven't done enough research.

Whatever you buy - you have for life. That's why my Puma is loaded with genuine accessories.

    • Salisbury rear end.

    • Vents under the windscreen.
    • Doors and body panels that seal from daylight, even better if they would exclude water and dust.

Or is that too much to ask?
