Does anyone get an International Driver's Licence any more when they go overseas and need to drive?
Is it required to hire a car in the USA?

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
In 1991 I have one issued by NRMA and used it during 8 month in South America.
There are some countries that still require them, can't remember which. Check out International driving permits - Travel information - Consular services - Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Ron, the NRMA issue them. Just need a passport type photo. I bought one when I went to Europe over Christmas, as I was driving through the Netherlands, Germany, France and GB.
Thanks gents. I checked the NRMA site and the document shows one isn't required for the USA nor Canada.

Ron the International Lic it is not required for Uruguay and Argentina but I have it as a backup.
It is a very cheap backup just in case that you loose the original or traffic police/inspector trying to keep your licence due to traffic infringment
Always show first your NRMA international lecence.
Especially if driving in Mexico.
Different countries have different regulations regarding warning triangles/hi vis vests/fire extinguishers/spare light bulbs/spare glasses etc.
What I do is look at list of requirements for each country am about to visit then ensure I have the max items for each country.
